Day 3 - The Butcher and More

Day 3 is cold and snowy.  I am going to make stew this morning for the dinner tomorrow night so a trip to the butcher down the road was in order.

The display in the case was just beautiful.  All kinds of meats but compared to the prices here they are very very expensive.  I found that almost everything in Switzerland is so much more expensive than here.

We took a walk to a covered bridge just down the road a bit and then a train ride to Bougemont where we saw houses dated from the 1600's.  It is so beautiful with all the window boxes filled with red geraniums.
And dairy cows everywhere.  All of them have large bells around their necks and they make such a wonderful sound when they move.  It is a deep sound while the bells on the goats makes a higher pitched sound.

All of the houses have painted shutters which really stand out.

 Assorted cow bells.

When we got home that night my hosts husband had made a delicious quiche for dinner.  Just wonderful.
And there was snow everywhere.  It was so very cold there.  The following are pictures of the snowy landscape mostly taken from the train.
