Day 7 - Chillon Castle

On our walk to the Chillon Castle we went by an outdoor art installation.  This bird is giant and made of heavy duty wire.
Graffiti on the side of a trash can
Close up of the face in this installation

This one was called Eclipse.  The two pieces were separate and when you walked you could line them up.

 doggy bags

As you can see she was also very large and posed right over Lake Geneva

 Made of rebar

A car turned into a planter!  Brilliant!
And tires turned into planters and water features

more graffiti on the side of a trash can.

Both of these installations were about 15 feet tall

The three above are all made of metal and the one below is made from an old british telephone booth.  Everything inside it moves.  Fascinating.

 Statue tribute to Freddy Mercury.
 Ham and cheese panini....yummy!
We are approaching the Chillon Castle.  It overlooks Lake Geneva
Inside the castle where they keep the wine casks.

The architecture inside is just beautiful.

And the fireplaces are huge, you can walk into them.

As you can see from the tourists how large the fireplaces are.

And the beds are so very very short.

 The courtyard of the castle.
We went to a grocery store while there and I was just facinated by all the different foods there.  Chestnuts!  We don't have chestnuts here.
 Chantrelle mushrooms and dried sausages.

I was amazed by the dried sausages and hams hanging.
Mid afternoon snack at a cafe for the three of us.
Beautiful and delicious dried sausage for dinner that night.
