Joint Compound!

Joint compound on compressed board.  Using all kinds of mark making tools to impress images into the compound while it is wet.  After dry and sanded layers of paint are added and taken away until you achieve the look that you want.  These were the experiments before working on a larger board.  Liking the way they turned out.

After  the joint compound is dry and sanded I added a layer of Yellow Oxide and Cadium yellow.  Smeared this around with a wet hand and then removed some of it with paper towels to let the white of the compound show through.

 After a layer of gel medium over the yellow layer another layer of paint goes on, this time a mixture of napthol crimson and magenta.  This too was smeared on with wet hands and then toweled off.  After it is dry it gets another layer of gel medium.

 AFter the gel has dried the final coat of paint is black and phalo blue.  This was the scary part because everything was so very dark.  Lots of wiping removed the dark paint but what was left sunk into the cracks and deep places on the pieces.

 Here they are all together.  Each board measures 6x12.  Now to have Jerry cut a larger piece of wood so I can work LARGE!!
