garlic/chili still life
Above and the two below are Jerry's charcoal Garlic/chili still life. This was our next assignment in our drawing class. We have discovered that charcoal - which is a medium neither of us has ever used - is very very messy and quite a learning curve. I think after we have played with it more we will be more comfortable with it.
I just love the stem on his chili.
This is my still life. Both of us had different garlic cloves and chilis and they were set up differently. I really like jerry's chili better.

Village
They say it takes a village so I made one! The background is collaged with scrap wallpaper and the inside of envelopes from bills. It is then painted over with various acrylic paints. The houses were also made from wallpaper, envelope paper and wrapping paper. The black outline is from a scribbles bottle. It measures 15.5 x 20. The substrate paper is red rosin paper which has been gessoed on both sides. I learned to do this from a tutorial at Caatje's blog : http://caatjesartsystuff.blogspot.com/2011/03/little-houses-tutorial.html
