still drawing

Here are two of the drawings that I have finished via the drawing class I am taking. The first one is completely graphite with a #2 pencil.

This one was sketched with a #2 pencil, gone over with lines and then colored in with portfolio pastels and colored pencils.

lovely dinner

I spent SAturday in Santa Barbara at the gem/minera/bead show. Huge show taking up two large buildings. It was mind boggleing to see all the colors, sparkles, beads after beads after beads. Quite overwhelming. I went with three friends, one of which has been beading, so this was like a trip to a candy store for her. You can see some of her work at:

We got home late afternoon and what was waiting for me???? First of all when I walked into the house there was this wonderful scent. Garlic....lots and lots of garlic. Jerry made a spanish garlic chicken, sauted garlic ginger carrots and zucchini and an olive oil/salt baked potato. The garlic in the chicken dish just melted. The flavors came together and melded so beautifully. I put the garlic and pan juices from the chicken over my potato. When he puts his mind to it he can really really cook. Below is a picture of the chef in action.

very cool finding

Well the pictures are backwards but I can never figure out how to load them into the browser thingy to make them come up the way I want them to. So look at the second picture first and then the first picture second. Right, well, you might be wondering what this is. When Satchel and I took our morning walk out in our field this is what a came upon. It is a bone of some sort, I am thinking a hipish bone because as you can see from the first picture there is a hole through it where I woulk think the spine would go. To me it looks like a face, but then again everything I see looks like a face. And with the hole through it I thought I could mount it on a fabric wrapped dowel. This will be a fun finding to play with.
