la virgen de guadalupe

THis has been a very difficult time for me. My new mantra is "just get me through this day". Kyle is now stationed at Ft. Carson Colorado and is to deploy to afganistan in May. I hate all of this and yet it is what he wants to do. Presently he is freezing in Colorado with temps in the 19's and snow. He has gone from the hot humidity of georgia to the freezing temps in colorado. With Kyle now 18 and Scott 29 I feel at a loss. I have been a mother for 29 years now and all of the sudden it is over. I am so very thankful that I have my art to pour a lot of my energy into. I find that if I stay busy then I am not curled up into a ball crying. So I am keeping my fingers busy weaving rag rugs and also working on a project for an exhibit at Picture This Gallery in Long Beach. They have an annual La Virgen De Guadalupe exhibit and this is what I am working on for it:

As you can see from the pins still in it I am still working on it. The rays coming out from behind her were done with Shiva paint sticks and her clothing was painted with acrylics/luminere. I need to get this finished to submit for jury.
