Patricia Griffin Studio Workshop

I had the honor of participating in one of Patricia Griffin Studio's workshops over the weekend.  This was my birthday gift to me and I couldn't have been in better company for the workshop.  A group of women from the college clay class joined in on the workshop and we had the best time!  If you are ever wanting to take a clay workshop, even if you have no experience at all, I highly recommend that you take Patty's class.  She is a wonderful teacher and very generous with her knowledge and supplies.  You don't have to bring a thing, she supplies everything that you need.

Her studio is in Cambria and is in the old Santa Rosa school house which is very quaint.

We started the day by learning how to sgraffito into tiles.

Kathy shows off her modeling ability during class
This is our fabulous teacher Patty.
Kathleen and Kathy - these two are a hoot together.
Marcia, Melody and Kara checking out each other's work

 Peace out Kathy!
Sunday morning was started out by Patty bringing in cups from other potters and providing us with wonderful coffee.
She also provided fruit and hot water for tea.  Marcia provided us with bear claws and scones from one of the local bakeries

Yes, there was a man in the class but you wouldn't have known it because he didn't say one word the entire weekend.  Here are Cindy and Melody enjoying a cup of coffee

Patty did a throwing demo for us and showed us how to use the strong arm and the steve tool
 Cindy working on her plate
Kathy contemplating what to do next
 Marcia hard at work
 Kara refining her plate
Melody adding color to her plate

Kathleen, Kara and Kathy enjoying the front porch at the studio
This is the first plate that I made.
And this is the second one.
We also made wall pillows and here is Pattty blowing into one of the pillows because one side collapsed.  It was so funny watching her doing this
 Kara and her finished pillow

And this is my finished pillow.  They are at Patty's studio getting fired and glazed to be picked up in about a month or so.  What an amazing weekend with creative women.  Cheers to all of you for making my birthday weekend so memorial.

clay play!!

Here are the newest items out of the kiln!!

 New series of plates!
 Loving this pattern.

this is a vase that has texture on it.  glazed with CY122 Rustic Sunset

I made this to hold my paint brushes.  It stands 7" high and 5" across.  The flower is from my hand carved stamp impressed into the clay.  The checkered board on the bottom is from wire.

This little four legged pot is glazed with Amaco Velvet V322 purple and V321 Lilac.  The dots at the top were made with chicken quills tied together.

This four legged pot was glazed with IN1055 Ruby Red and IN1026 Very Black.

This is a planter which stands 14" tall and 5" wide. The goddess image is from a hand carved stamp as is the image across the bottom.  The vertical lines are from bisque fired image tools.
