new journal

This is a journal I made for a friend as a birthday gift. The front is dyed paper towels, the spine is dyed muslin and the image stamped on the front and back is a stamp that I carved. The beads on the spine are lampwork beads Jerry made.

art reception

The reception was terrific. The Town Center Gallery is such a wonderful venue for all of the local artists to display and sell their work. There was a nice crowd there and my talk and demo went without a hitch even I was so very nervous. My friend Anne stood next to me as I waited to go up and kept whispering "breath, just breath". She knows me so well. So I breathed, I talked and I demoed on how to make a journal. I brought several of my journals that I have worked in so people would get an idea of what to do with a journal. I got a lot of positive feedback from the audience so I think that they enjoyed it. Here are some photos of the evening.

The purse is done!!!

The purse I made from a cut up pair of blue jeans is finally done!!! It is lined with the lime and pink material that the belt and handle is made from. Lots of hand stitching and patches. I love it. Have received a lot of compliments when I carry it.

post cards!!!

I am the featured artist at the Town Center Gallery reception this month!! I just got the post cards and they turned out fabulous!! This is very very exciting. I am going to be making a journal during the reception.

Day bed

Here is the wonderful day bed that Jerry got me for my birthday. LOVE IT!!!

50 faces of dawn

and my dear friends Mikey and Shirlee Bowden made this amazing piece of art for me. 50 different pictures of dawns around the world.

It's official!! I'm 50!!

As of last Friday I am now 50!! My birthday has been a good week long. Lunchs with friends, Friday night family dinner at Flatbread, Saturday we went to wholesale nurseries who where having a once a year open house. We filled the car with plants and brought all of them home and then went back out and checked into the Sea Venture Spa and Resort in Pismo Beach for the night. Jerry took a long walk on the beach while I sat with my journal and played. We walked to Two Blocks for dinner - bruschetta, halibut (me), prime rib (jerry). Our room had a hot tub on the balcony where we stayed for a long time. It was such a beautiful night out. No pewey fog. Home the next day to put together the day bed that jerry got for me for my birthday. This is such a wonderful piece. All of the curtains pull together so you can enclose yourself in it. When the weather is so hot outside I simply cannot sleep upstairs I am going to sleep there. When the fog leaves this morning I will go out there and take photos and post them.

My very bestest friend Anne gave me a party on Monday night with all of my girlfriends. They gave me "50" gifts. A lime bucket filled with 50 tootsy pops and a sign that said "50 Sucks", a jar of 50 marbles to replace the marbles that I lost a long time ago, a necklace made out of 50 black and red paper clips with teeny little paper punched out bears on each paper clip (in case you don't know....I hate bears - not live ones, I like live ones - it is the teddy bears that I have a problem with). My friend Prudy sent me 50 items that related to "50".....5 Tea bags, 5 T shirts, 5 golf Ts, a package of 50 bandaids, #50 lipstick, #50 nail polish....you get the idea. Such a clever gal. And then she made this wonderful poster........
