Snail finally finished

Late yesterday afternoon I finally finished the snail. I will have you know that black grout does NOT come off your hands easily. I have scrubbed and scrubbed but still have a stain of black around my cuticles and under one nail. I also have blisters from the caulk gun and assorted cuts from the glass. But she - Gladys - is finally done. The majority of her body is broken plates, her tail and side edges are broken mirror.

Her head part is painted pink and purple.
Her eyes are large flat marbles. I drew the eyes on paper and decoupaged them onto the back of the marbles then glued them into the places for her eyes.

She is beautiful and probably weighs a ton but I have no intention of ever moving her.

snail update

The snail is coming along. My hands are blistered and sore but I will finish this before Satchel comes home. If I had all of this out while he was here it would be a disaster.

snail so far

This is how far I got with the snail today.............................

Star House

Another house finished. The roof on this one is repoussed aluminum.

Butterfly House

just finished the Butterfly House. Styrofoam, Plaster, decoupage with tissue paper, embellishments. I found the little people at a train store. They are so tiny.

The Snail

This is the pre-mosaiced snail. Kyle made this for me from car parts up in the back. He took welding in high school and is quite adept at it. I have pulled out lots of things to break to start mosaicing this morning.

The Neighborhood

I am working on a series of houses.....The Neighborhood. This is the Moon House. Styrofoam, plaster, paint, wire. I will add photos as they get finished.
